Anthony Corr has been appointed as the new Principal for Newhaven College

Anthony (Tony) is currently the Head of Staff Development at Melbourne Grammar School (MGS). He joined MGS in January 2017 and in his time at the school has also been Deputy Headmaster/ Head of Senior School at Melbourne Grammar School (MGS). Tony is a member of the Senior School Executive and works to support, mentor and develop teachers at the Senior School. Specific responsibilities in Tony’s current role include staff recruitment and induction, new teacher appraisal, staff performance reviews, management of professional development and coordination of student teachers. Tony is a member of a number of committees, including the Senior School Curriculum Board and Senior School Head of House Committee.

Prior to joining MGS Tony spent approximately twenty years with Xavier College where he experienced a range of senior leadership positions across all three campuses of the school. Tony held the position of Deputy Head of Administration for seven years and oversaw the day to day operations of the Senior School including event coordination, planning the school calendar, chairing staff briefings, overseeing timetable development and class allocation, and managing staff grievances. Tony undertook a number of periods acting as the Head of Senior School, including all of Term Two during 2014. This required him to expand his scope of responsibility to encompass all academic, administrative and pastoral leadership of the Senior School.

As Staff Development Coordinator, a position he held for five years, Tony was responsible for the professional development, support, wellbeing and mentoring for all general and teaching staff from three year old kindergarten to Year 12. Tony oversaw professional development activities, including coordination of all Staff Professional Development Days. He was a VIT delegate, a member of the Staff Wellbeing Committee and was also involved in the Senior School refurbishment Committee.

In addition to the positions outlined, Tony held additional positions across teaching and learning, co-curricular and pastoral care. Tony’s teaching focus was centred on Drama, Theatre Studies and English.
