Dan Church is the new Head of Sport at Wesley College

Dan holds over 20 years of experience in secondary education, holding a number of sport leadership positions. Dan is currently Head of House and Teacher in Charge of Football at Melbourne Grammar School.  Dan originally joined Melbourne Grammar School in 2004 as Director of Rowing, in addition to a teaching role in Physical Education. During his appointment as Director of Rowing Dan developed the Boat Club into one of the most successful clubs nationally, with a number of boys going on to represent Australia and gaining scholarships overseas. Dan also formalised the Parents Support Group, maintaining a role with the Old Melburnians, Melburnia Club.

In 2014 Dan took on the position of Teacher in Charge of Football at Melbourne Grammar. In this role he has implemented a new role of Director of Football along with managing the Parents Support Group. Key achievements in this position have included pioneering the APS Indigenous Round and the launch of a school wide indigenous football jumper. Dan also launched the APS ‘Pride Match’ played between Melbourne Grammar and Brighton Grammar. Other areas of engagement during his career with Melbourne Grammar include Snow Sports Program, a member of the Outdoor Education Organising Committee, and most recently Head of Deakin House.

Prior to joining Melbourne Grammar Dan held roles with Carey Baptist Grammar School in both the Middle and Senior Schools. Positions held included Head of Girls Rowing, Director of Rowing, Acting Head of Physical Education and House Tutor. Within the rowing program, Dan was responsible for the development and success of girls rowing, winning their first medal at the HOSG Regatta. Dan introduced Rugby to Carey Grammar, was involved in the Snow Sports Program and was heavily involved in the Outdoor Education Program.
