Dr Ren Yi is the new Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) at the University of Southern Queensland

Dr Ren Yi is the new Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) at the University of Southern Queensland, a newly-created position providing a University-wide leadership role.  This key role will build the University’s international brand and profile to align with its priorities and strategic goals and oversee growth in the diversity and size of the University’s international student population.

Most recently Executive Director of Research Training and International Research Training Partnerships with Macquarie University, Ren set the strategic direction for the University’s international partners, managing partnerships with 110 international universities and research institutes, with direct responsibility for the allocation of $50 million in research grants.  Ren also led the initiation of Macquarie’s partnership with the European Commission on a joint PhD program.  Alongside his roles in Higher Education, Ren has worked on several management consulting projects for international companies and for the Australian government.  He is a recipient of an Australian Endeavour Executive Award (2009) and an Excellence Award (Leading Change) from the Australasian Research Management Society for embedding research administration in a regional university.
