Professor Ariadne Vromen is Sir John Bunting Chair of Public Administration and Deputy Dean (Research), ANZSOG at the Australian National University

Professor Ariadne Vromen has been appointed as the Sir John Bunting Chair of Public Administration, which provides leadership and fosters excellence in research, while making significant original contributions to the field of public administration and governance.  Based at the ANU Crawford School of Public Policy, this role will influence and further develop the School’s excellent research profile and maintain its successful postgraduate programs, while influencing significant research activities of ANZSOG as Deputy Dean (Research) and a key member of its Research Committee.

With research interests in political participation, social movements, advocacy organisations, women and the future of work, digital politics, and young people and politics, Professor Vromen joins ANU from the University of Sydney, where she is Professor of Political Sociology and Associate Dean (Research) for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.  Ariadne served as a member of the Australian Research Council College of Experts (2017-19) and was the academic lead on a successful tender in 2019 to establish a NSW Public Policy Institute, funded by the NSW Department of Education.  She is the winner of the 2018 Australian Political Studies Association’s Academic Leadership in Political Science award and the 2017 University of Sydney Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Leadership and Mentoring.
