Professor Pal Ahluwalia is the new Vice-Chancellor and President at The University of the South Pacific

Professor Pal Ahluwalia is the new Vice-Chancellor and President at The University of the South Pacific.  In his previous position as Pro Vice-Chancellor, Research and Innovation at the University of Portsmouth, he was responsible for promoting a strong research and innovation culture, with continuous improvement in the volume, quality and impact of the University’s research and enterprise outputs and partnerships.

Before this role Pal was Pro Vice-Chancellor and Vice President of Education, Arts and Social Sciences at the University of South Australia and he held earlier professorial roles at University of California, and Goldsmiths College, University of London, where he was also the Director of the Centre for Post-Colonial Studies.  Pal also spent 14 years at the University of Adelaide following the completion of his PhD.

Professor Ahluwalia’s research is centred around African studies, social and cultural theory.  With a strong publication record, he is sole author of five books and the joint author of four books, with two of his publications being translated into other languages.
