Ben Hanisch is the new Deputy Headmaster/Head of Senior School for Melbourne Grammar School.  In this position Ben will focus on creating a safe, stimulating and challenging learning environment, foster the School’s philosophy and values, whilst providing leadership on operational day to day matters throughout the School.

Ben has a strong history of involvement in delivering education for boys, combined with 15 years of prior experience with Melbourne Grammar School.  Since departing Melbourne Grammar, Ben held the position of Deputy Headmaster/Head of Senior School with St Peter’s College in Adelaide.  In May 2017, upon the retirement of Simon Murray, Ben was appointed Acting Headmaster for six months, providing him with first-hand experience of full school leadership while assisting in the transition to a new Headmaster.  In his previous position as Deputy Headmaster at St Peter’s, Ben held responsibility for the Senior School and Senior Leadership Team. In his previous experience with MGS, Ben held the positions of Director of Senior School Curriculum, Head of Hone House, and Head of Japanese.  In the latter part of his time with the school Ben was responsible for the Senior School Curriculum and staff professional development. In addition to his Head of House position, Ben had previously held a Boarding House tutor position where he created a caring environment, encouraging engagement and leadership from senior students.
