Cathie Ireland is the new Head of Junior Secondary School at the Methodist Ladies College. A highly qualified Educator with experience across a variety of Educational settings, systems and services, Cathie was previously the Head of Primary School – Turner House at Firbank Grammar. Within her Head of Primary School role, Cathie was responsible for approximately 300 students from ELC to year 6 along with 45 staff. Prior to this, Cathie was at Melbourne Grammar School for 8 years at Grimwade House as the Deputy Head (Administration and Pastoral Care) in charge of an enrolment of over 680 students and 90 staff. Cathie has been associated with Catholic, Independent and Department Primary and Secondary Schools, in a variety of Leadership and Consultancy roles. Cathie also taught for a time in the Royal Children’s Hospital’s education unit where she worked on a program called Back on Track, which supported young people with cancer. The education unit works with young people who have health conditions that impact upon their school attendance and social connections to ensure that young people with cancer remain connected to their educational pathways. Prior to this Cathie was Assistant Principal of the Middle School at The King David School for 4 years after spending 5 years at Sacred Heart Girls College culminating as Deputy Principal (Students).
