Dr Kate Fitz-Gibbon is a new Board Member for Respect Victoria at the Department of Health and Human services (VIC)

Dr Kate Fitz-Gibbon is a new Board Member for Respect Victoria at the Department of Health and Human Services (VIC). Kate has led a range of research projects focusing on legal and service responses to family violence, law reform and the gendered operation of the law. She has published extensively in these areas and provided expert advice to a range of Australian state and international government bodies on homicide law reform, family violence and youth justice reviews. In addition, she has received funding to support her research from the Australian Research Council, Australian National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety, Victorian Women’s Trust and the Victorian Legal Services Board. She is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Lead Researcher in the Gender and Family Violence Research Program at Monash University. She has been a visiting scholar in the Centre for Criminology at Oxford University (2013), The Faculty of Law at University of Auckland (2015) and the School of Justice at Queensland University of Technology (2015). She Holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Criminology) and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Criminology from Monash University; a Graduate Certificate of Higher Education from the Deakin University and is a Graduate of Company Directors Course, AICD.
