The Brief

Fisher Leadership has had an association with Eastern Health over many years, appointing a range of positions across executive leadership and clinical functions. A selection of roles appointed by Fisher Leadership include:​

  • Chief Executive Officer​
  • Executive Director People and Culture ​
  • Executive Director Continuing Care, Ambulatory, Mental Health and Statewide Services​
  • Executive Director Clinical Operations, Acute and Aged Medicine, Specialty Medicine and Ambulatory Care, Pathology, Pharmacy, Patent Access and Allied Health (ASPPPA)​

Fisher Leadership assisted Eastern Health with the appointment of their current Chief Executive, Adjunct Professor David Plunkett. Eastern Health is the second largest health service in Victoria and as such sought the assistance of Fisher Leadership to provide their sector expertise and networks within the Health sector to make a successful appointment. ​

Solution Building​

Fisher Leadership conducted a comprehensive international search focused on Australia New Zealand, United Kingdom, and Canada providing a range of candidates to the Board for consideration. As part of the initial process Fisher Leadership undertook a range of stakeholder briefings in order to gain a complete view of the nuances of the position. A shortlist of five candidates were selected for panel interview, which the lead Fisher Leadership consultant participated in.

The Outcome​

While all candidates were well qualified and aligned to Eastern Health’s values and future ambitions, the Board were impressed with David’s prior work with Eastern and his engaging leadership style. David had held the position of Acting CEO at Eastern Health with his substantive role as Executive Director Acute Health / Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer at Eastern Health. David commenced his position as CEO in late 2016 and remains in the position today​
