Emeritus Professor Donna Cross has been appointed as Chief Behaviour Advisor NSW

Fisher Leadership was delighted to partner with the NSW Department of Education, Catholic Schools NSW and the Association of Independent Schools of NSW in the search for the first Chief Behaviour Advisor NSW.  This important position is part of a shared commitment and responsibility to ensure that all NSW schools are safe, inclusive and positive places for learning, and furthers the aim of a more preventive, student-centred and positive approach to behaviour in schools.

Emeritus Professor Donna Cross OAM was appointed to this important role.  A leader in the field of children’s and adolescents’ mental health, wellbeing and behaviour, Professor Cross is an internationally renowned academic and educator, bringing decades of experience in education, public health and research, and with experience in working with governments at a state, local and international level, including with the United Nations.  An Emeritus Professor of Behaviour Science in the School of Population and Global Health at the University of Western Australia, she was also the Head of the Health Promotion and Education Research team at the Telethon Kids Institute.  Prior to her retirement in 2022 she was the Western Australian Node Director of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course, where she co-led a seven-year, $32 million project focused on producing and trialling innovative policy and practice to address deep and persistent disadvantage and improving life-course outcomes for Australian children and families.  Donna was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia in the 2022 Queen’s Birthday Honours List for her service to youth mental health and wellbeing.
