Helen Barrett has been appointed as the new Principal for Tombolo Academy

Helen is an experienced educator who presents with 20 years of experience gained in the United Kingdom and Australia. Helen’s background has been focussed on supporting some of society’s most vulnerable students with a diverse range of needs and abilities.

Before joining Tombolo in June, Helen was engaged with The Cheshire School, a specialist primary school for children with significant social, emotional and behavioural challenges. Helen originally joined the School as Principal/Senior Classroom teacher and was involved in teaching children aged from five to 11 years of age. She designed learning experiences based on the Australian Curriculum and developed behaviour management plans to support the students. In February 2019 Helen’s role changed to being solely Principal, where she managed and led a team of teachers, psychologists, educational support offices and family workers.

Earlier in her career, Helen held the position of Teacher / Curriculum and ICT Leader REALschool Program at Ballarat High School.
