Kate Croft has been appointed as Deputy Principal Learning at Carey Baptist Grammar School

Kate is a passionate educational leader with demonstrated school leadership experience and a career spanning schools in both Tasmania and London, UK.  During the breadth of her teaching career Kate has led and taught the full spectrum of age groups from Early Learning through to Year 12, giving her a complete view across the educational landscape.

For the last twenty years Kate has been engaged with Scotch Oakburn College in Launceston, Tasmania.  She currently holds the position of Deputy Principal/Head of Senior School.  In her present position Kate has provided management and leadership across teaching and administration in a role encompassing learning and innovation, staff development, community engagement, leading and managing school growth and promotion and wider community engagement.  Kate’s leadership at Scotch Oakburn has included a role as an observing member of the Scotch Oakburn College Board, attending all meetings and retreats; a member of the Finance Committee; a member of the Facilities and Infrastructure Committee, planning current and future learning facilities at the College through the design of facilities and infrastructure that are innovative, flexible, adaptable, environmentally and financially sustainable. Kate is currently a Board Member of the Independent Schools Tasmania,  and the conference convenor for the 2020 International Round Square Conference (cancelled due to COVID).

Prior to joining Scotch Oakburn, Kate taught at East Launceston Primary School for three years after a stint with the Education Department of Tasmania.  Earlier Kate spent a couple of years with the Inner London Education Authority supply teaching across years 2 to 12.

Kate holds a Master of Education and Bachelor of Education from the University of Tasmania.
