Key Director Role Positioning Organisation for Credibiity

Leadership to redefine the organisation and achieve credibility

The Brief

In September 2019, a Victorian Regulatory Agency approached Fisher Leadership to undertake the executive search to appoint the new Critical Director role – a critical Victorian community safety leadership role. A detailed briefing was provided. The search was focused on identifying candidates who were ready to redefine the organisation as a modern, agile and tough regulator with an outcomes’ focus. In addition to achieving best practice; industry and community credibility; and productive relationships with government and other agencies.

Solution Building

After a comprehensive search process across the public sector and other relevant sectors, supplemented by an extensive print media and online advertising campaign the selection committee were presented with a longlist report of 11 highly qualified candidates from which they chose to interview four.

The Outcome

Following a thorough selection panel interview process across multiple dates and a one-on-one discussion with the Minister a preferred candidate was appointed and commenced in March 2020. The successful candidate exceeded the key selection criteria required for the role and the panel agreed they would bring extensive experience in the role as a regulator, including the development and delivery of operational enforcement and compliance activities, public policy and delivering transformational outcomes. In addition to their diverse network across Victoria, the successful candidate comes with CEO experience in tough regulated environments and challenging community/client engagement.
