Professor Maria Constantinou is Professor of Physiotherapy at Southern Cross University

Professor Maria Constantinou has been appointed as Professor of Physiotherapy at Southern Cross University to lead the design and delivery of a new academic course offering in the discipline.  The position will contribute to curriculum development, assessment, teaching, research and service, ensuring the ongoing strength of the discipline.

With over 20 years as an academic, Maria brings extensive academic, teaching, research and clinical experience in physiotherapy, allied health and sports medicine.  Currently an Associate Professor in Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy at the Australian Catholic University, she is the course coordinator of the Master of Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy, which is recognised by the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA).  With earlier academic roles at Griffith University and the University of Queensland, Maria also has extensive clinical experience, including the coordination and oversight of physiotherapy services for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games (Polyclinic) and as a consultant sports physiotherapist.  Maria completed her PhD on hip osteoarthritis and her research interests are in sports and exercise physiotherapy, including osteoarthritis, sports injury prevention and taping.  She is an APA Titled Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist and a Fellow of the Australian Sports Medicine Federation.
