Nico Adams is Professor, Optus Chair of Digital Innovation (IoT) at James Cook University

Fisher Leadership was pleased to partner with James Cook University on the search for the Optus Chair of Digital Innovation (Internet of Things).  This key position leads JCU’s research partnership with Optus in digital innovation, fostering linkages with industry and government through research and innovation that will build and reshape industries in northern Australia, capitalising on the opportunities afforded by the rapid evolution of digital technologies – the so-called fourth industrial revolution.

The successful candidate was Professor Nico Adams, who is passionate about working with companies and students to co-create thoughtful and positive outcomes enabled by technology.  As Director of the Factory of the Future at Swinburne University of Technology, Nico supported businesses to leverage Industry 4.0 to create new business outcomes through co-design of strategy, training, and research and development projects at a facility established with a significant software grant from Siemens.

Nico has also held program leadership and senior research roles at the Innovative Manufacturing CRC and CSIRO’s Data61.
