The Position
The Directorate, Healthy Communities and Environments, has been recently established and brings together community and environment functions, working hand-in-hand to achieve improved outcomes for the region. The Directorate provides leadership, planning, policy development, service delivery and capacity building, and supports the delivery of community infrastructure. This is achieved using approaches that are evidence based and applied through an equity lens with ongoing evaluation.
The Healthy Communities and Environments Directorate works in partnership with the community to ensure it is:

  • Healthy and well
  • Safe and secure
  • Able to participate
  • Connected to culture and community
  • Liveable and environmentally sustainable

 
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director, Healthy Communities and Environments will be responsible for the strategic development and delivery of wellbeing and environmental plans, including the integration of climate change. Working proactively across the organisation, the Director will embed plans to deliver impactful outcomes for the community. Leading and supporting a high performing and collaborative team, the Director will build capability and continue to drive a culture that is respectful, creative and diverse.
The successful incumbent will be an inspirational and contemporary leader, promoting collaboration and best practice for exceptional community outcomes. Experience leading the development and implementation of complex strategies in response to community needs will be key to the success of this role. Previous leadership experience of a large service operation and management of complex budgets and funding arrangements will also be essential. Community and/or public sector knowledge and exposure to areas such as public health, environmental sustainability and community development will be highly regarded.
