The Position
The Academic Program Director will lead The University of Melbourne’s efforts to be at the forefront of the STEMM convergence revolution by creating:

  • A STEMM teaching precinct – focused on transforming the first year experience
  • A Life sciences research hub – focused on realising the opportunities presented by cross-disciplinary collaboration

The new facilities will be based at the University’s Parkville campus. The facilities will offer innovative spaces for teaching STEMM disciplines at scale, enhance student experience and boost the impact of life sciences research.
The appointee will have the transformational leadership experience to seize this opportunity to position The University of Melbourne as a global leader in contemporary learning spaces and interdisciplinary leadership, learning and research across STEMM. This exciting new position will provide strong academic leadership for the planning and development of the new precinct, reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Science, with a dotted line to the Executive Director, Major Projects.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in implementing large scale learning space projects, preferably in the tertiary sector. She/he will drive cross-disciplinary collaboration between the life sciences, physical sciences and engineering, as well as innovation in teaching and research practices.
