The Board of Directors of Aspire Learning Resources seeks an outstanding individual to lead key strategies, drive innovation and provide direction as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The organisation

Founded in 1991 to develop competency standards for the business services workforce, Aspire Learning Resources is a not-for-profit company specialising in the development of competency-based training and assessment resources for vocational education and training (VET).  With a mission to develop high quality learning resources that support skill development, resulting in enhanced workforce productivity, Aspire’s vision is to be recognised as the leading provider of vocational training resources.

Overseen by its member organisations, Business NSW and the Australian Services Union, and the Board of Directors, Aspire advises and assists industry, education and other bodies involved in vocational education, while also supporting opportunities for marginalised and disadvantaged people to develop vocational skills.

Recognising that not everyone is afforded the same learning opportunities, the Aspire Foundation was established in 2001 to provide vocational learning opportunities for disadvantaged learners, resulting in job outcomes or further study.  Since inception Aspire has donated over $550,000 in foundation funds to worthwhile projects.

The position

Reporting to the Board, and as a Board Member, the CEO will drive the development and evolution of the organisation’s business strategy, identifying opportunities for growth and increased use of technology to ensure a future focus.  Using a commercial mindset, the CEO will oversee business development activities, identifying and fostering robust partnerships to promote and expand offerings.  This role also holds Company Secretarial responsibility, including reporting to the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC).  Additionally, the CEO will manage the functions of the Aspire Foundation, including the identification of potential beneficiaries.

Nimble and responsive to the changing landscape for vocational education and training, the ideal candidate will bring a track record in leadership in this dynamic sector, with the ability to use relevant networks in the vocational education and training sector to influence and proactively respond to changes within the sector.  Experienced in government procurement processes and technically savvy, the ideal candidate will understand the role of digital skills in the broader community and economy, with creative ideas regarding the role of vocational education and training in meeting emerging requirements.  The successful candidate will be strategically minded, financially literate and experienced in effective workforce and resources management, with a willingness to be hands-on in leading key operational areas.
