A subsidiary of TAFE Queensland, Aviation Australia is a world class registered training organisation. Established by the Queensland Government to support the development of Queensland as an aviation and aerospace hub for the Asia-Pacific region, the organisation provides a centre of excellence for education and training for the aviation industry.  It is a partner to over 60 airlines and aerospace companies, governments, defence forces and regulatory authorities, with over 1,000 graduates working worldwide.
Applications are sought for non-executive directors passionate about making a difference in the vocational education and training system in Queensland, particularly in the aviation industry.  As the governing body of Aviation Australia, the Board sets the strategic direction, ensuring the organisation achieves its mission of delivering excellence in training to help shape the future of the aviation industry worldwide, operating in accordance with its operational plan to achieve required performance targets and accountable to the TAFE Queensland Board.
The ideal candidates will bring skills and proven experience in the following areas: strategy development and implementation; audit, risk management and compliance; finance; work health and safety; marketing; information technology; public relations; law; international business; vocational education and training; and academic governance.  Applicants with experience in the aviation industry or other relevant experience of the education, training or employment sectors will be highly valued.
Suitably skilled and experienced candidates from regional areas and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, women, people with expertise in multiculturalism, young people and people with disabilities are also sought.
The successful applicant will possess strong commercial acumen, strategic vision and have the drive, commitment and motivation to make an exceptional contribution to Queensland’s future skills and training initiatives and the successful positioning of Aviation Australia.
Completion of the Australian Institute of Company Directors course is desired but not mandatory.
