Aviation Australia seeks an outstanding candidate to provide inspirational and strategic leadership as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Â This is an exciting opportunity to lead the executive team and further the commitment to championing the organisation on an international stage and driving its vision.
The role of the CEO at Aviation Australia is a once in a lifetime chance to lead this great company, providing critical industry leadership and fulfilling a dream of changing the landscape in the aviation and aerospace industries. Aviation Australia has achieved success, delivering training both nationally and internationally to many thousands of aviation professionals worldwide.
Reporting directly to the Chair, the CEO will lead Aviation Australia through a period of significant growth, seizing opportunities for development, both in Australia and internationally. In addition to ensuring the effective and efficient management of the organisation and working with the Board to set the strategic direction, the CEO will grow revenue and opportunity, driving inspirational outcomes and creating an inclusive and creative culture. The CEO will also advocate for the organisation, and the sector more broadly, at the heart of educating and developing the next generation of workforce talent.
Key priorities:
- Ensure effective and efficient management across all aspects of the operations of Aviation Australia, acting as a trusted advisor to the Board, providing strategic and timely advice.
- Drive the vision of the organisation, setting the direction and creating opportunities for growth and inspirational outcomes, building Aviation Australia’s profile and cause with key stakeholders, customers, the government and business community and general public.
- Drive an industry-leading safe and compliant culture throughout the organisation.
- Oversee the design, development and delivery of the organisation’s programs and other major initiatives, including the development and monitoring of program performance measures.
- Ensure the sound financial management of Aviation Australia.
- Lead and motivate a high performing team, ensuring an inclusive and contemporary culture that celebrates success and creates an environment where Aviation Australia is considered a workplace of choice, setting training and safety standards that are best in class.
- Oversee Aviation Australia’s marketing and communications, ensuring the development and implementation of a sound strategy to drive growth plans to promote the organisation and its programs.
- Identify, develop and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, implementing a creative engagement and stakeholder strategy to elevate Aviation Australia in key community groups both regulatory, government, business and public.
The ideal candidate
You will be an entrepreneurial leader and progressive thinker, with a commercial mindset and the ability to initiate business enhancement opportunities and drive change. With a track record in executive leadership, you will demonstrate strengths in strategy leadership and development, and in building an inclusive, supportive and enthusiastic culture. You will bring outstanding skills in communication and stakeholder engagement, with extensive networks and an ability to foster effective relationships, influencing, inspiring, and bringing people on the journey.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of aviation and aerospace training requirements, in addition appropriate tertiary and post graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline such as business, aviation or education would be highly desirable.

It is the largest Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) approved training organisation in Australia.
