Applications are sought for a Board Chair passionate about making a difference in education and training delivery in the aviation industry. If you have exceptional strategic thinking capability, and are motivated to contribute to the improvement of this sector, then we would like to hear from you.
Aviation Australia is a subsidiary of TAFE Queensland and is a world class registered training organisation. Established by the Queensland Government to support the development of Queensland as an aviation and aerospace hub for the Asia-Pacific region, the organisation provides a centre of excellence for education and training for the aviation industry.
The organisation delivers a variety of short courses through to advance diploma level qualifications, and provides the opportunity for students to enter and further advance within the aviation industry. As a result, Aviation Australia is a partner to over 60 airlines and aerospace companies, governments, defence forces and regulatory authorities, with over 1,000 graduates working worldwide.
As the governing body of Aviation Australia, the Board sets the strategic direction for the organisation and ensures it operates in accordance with its operational plan to achieve required performance targets. This exciting role would suit an aviation and aerospace industry expert with a deep understanding of the regulatory environment, as well as broader policy development and industry trends, which impact on the demand for skills.
We are seeking applications from individuals with skills and experience in the following areas: strategy; finance and audit; commerce; economics; governance; legal; management; risk and compliance; and technology. Demonstrated aviation and aerospace industry experience will be highly valued, along with experience in the Queensland VET sector. A track record of having developed new business opportunities in key target markets would be considered favourably.
Past experience in either executive leadership positions and/or as a Non-Executive Director is required.
Suitably skilled and experienced candidates from regional areas and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, women, people with expertise in multiculturalism, young people and people with disabilities are also sought.
The successful applicant will possess strong commercial acumen, strategic vision and have the drive to make an exceptional contribution to the successful positioning of Aviation Australia, particularly its role in helping individuals and business capitalise on existing and emerging opportunities within the aviation and aerospace industry.
Completion of the Australian Institute of Company Directors course is desired but not mandatory.
The position will be remunerated in accordance with Queensland Government guidelines.
