The Position
The Australian Red Cross seeks to appoint a financial and governance expert to join the Board as Chair, Audit & Risk Committee. The Board Member will be responsible for contributing to the appropriate strategic direction for the Red Cross and for the achievement of the highest standards of governance.
The Audit & Risk Committee plays a crucial role in assisting the Board to fulfil its governance responsibilities in exercising due care, diligence and skill. As Chair, Audit & Risk Committee, one of three office bearers, the Board Member will have responsibility for managing the effective performance of the Audit & Risk Committee and for developing and maintaining a contemporary and effective audit and risk governance approach for the organisation.
Must have membership of CA and/or CPA and ideally the AICD, the Board Member will have current experience and an exemplary background in finance, risk, accounting and audit, and will be able to demonstrate commitment to applying principles of good governance. As a contemporary thinker who has a high level of emotional intelligence and deep commercial experience, the Board Member will have a demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Previous Board level experience in a member-based organisation is essential.
