Reporting to the Executive Director Office of the Chief Executive, the Board Secretary will work closely with a highly experienced and dynamic Board, CEO and Executive and have responsibility for the management and coordination of Monash Health’s Board secretariat function. The Board secretary will also support the Board of Jessie MacPherson, being a wholly owned private hospital of Monash Health. The Board Secretary will develop agendas for Board and Board subcommittees meetings, prepare briefing notes, minutes, advise and coordinate information as required for the Board and in partnership with induvial Board subcommittee Executive sponsors, ensure the quality and timeliness of papers and agendas.
The successful candidate will be a strategic partner to the Board, with the ability to engage and influence at senior levels and build strong relationships. The Board Secretary will build their understanding of the broader strategic direction and combine this with knowledge and experience in contemporary corporate governance. The role will require an individual who is highly organised, with exceptional attention to detail and process and can prioritise requirements of the board, bringing structure, compliance and regulation to the role. They will be a dynamic and collaborative individual who is proactive, solution orientated and self-motivated, driving innovation and best practice.
The appointee will have knowledge and experience in contemporary corporate governance practice, with formal qualifications in governance or law being highly desirable. A demonstrated interest in the Public Health Sector and its legal and regulatory frameworks will be well regarded.
