The Position

Wesley College seeks to appoint a strategic leader to the position of Business Director & CFO.  Leading a significant team and overseeing a large portfolio, the position plays a vital role in the school and will be a key advisor and partner to the Principal and the Wesley College Council.

The Business Director & CFO is a critical senior leadership position reporting directly to the Principal and is a member of the College Executive. The Business Director & CFO will be responsible for the planning, implementation, control and oversight of all financial and business affairs of the College.  With a portfolio including finance, commercial contracts, infrastructure and facilities, the Business Director and CFO will ensure a consistent and coordinated College-wide approach to planning and financial risk management.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and inspirational leader, demonstrating strong financial skills and the ability to partner with the Principal and Executive.  With prior experience developing and executing complex management and planning initiatives the appointee will have a proven ability to lead a large team across multiple sites and geographic locations. Displaying a flexible and empowering approach, the appointee will possess sound financial analysis skills combined with strong operational and project management capability. While previous experience in a school environment is not essential, the ideal candidate will demonstrate the agility and flexibility to adapt to a large, multi-campus school. This is a highly visible position in the school community and the appointee will possess a genuine willingness to understand and appreciate the culture of the College, building relationships with staff and families alike. Tertiary qualifications with a finance focus are essential.

Wesley College Melbourne, a Uniting Church school with a rich tradition spanning 153 years, is a diverse, dynamic, coeducational learning community with more than 3,400 students aged between 3 and 18 years. Wesley comprises three metropolitan campuses in Melbourne, at St Kilda Road, Glen Waverley and Elsternwick, outdoor education sites at Chum Creek, Mallana and Lochend, a Year 9 residential campus at Clunes.
