The Position
The Business Manager is a Senior Executive Management position that reports directly to the Principal and is primarily responsible for the management of the College’s business, administration, ICT and infrastructure services. The Business Manager is responsible for overseeing the College’s operations, including the employment of all General Staff employees.
The primary responsibilities of the Business Manager include but are not limited to the management of the College’s finance, information technology, property and facilities, approved capital expenditure, risk management, OH&S, insurance, administration, ancillary business support services including third party contractors, privacy & data management, procurement, and catering.
The incoming Business Manager must understand they are part of a broader community and be willing to be actively involved in that community, including attendance at some College events. The Business Manager’s role is a highly visible position in the College community and to ensure success in the role the appointee will demonstrate an ability to build trust, rapport and develop collaborative working relationships at all levels.
The Business Manager will conduct their work in accordance with a common goal of mutual respect, encouragement and friendship. The position requires a highly experienced senior leader with a record of success as a senior administrator and financial manager combined with excellent people management and leadership experience. In addition to guiding the financial management and continued development of the College, the position of Business Manager actively supports a positive, respectful and inclusive organisational culture.

The Organisation
The Women’s College is an inclusive and positive community of women scholars situated on the campus of the University of Sydney. Each year, 280 students and up to 50 affiliate students come together as a purposeful community to live, socialise and study together.
The College opened with four students in March 1892 and moved to its own building within the University of Sydney grounds in May 1894.
