Drive and support substantive reform in the primary prevention of family violence
The Agency
Respect Victoria is a new government organisation dedicated to the primary prevention of family violence and all forms of violence against women. It is consistent with Victorian Government policy commitments outlined in the Royal Commission into Family Violence.
Respect Victoria will ensure systemic family violence prevention efforts are accelerated and embedded across the Victorian Government and communities through a comprehensive commitment of investment over the longer term.
The primary roles of the Agency are to:
- Provide prevention design, implementation and monitoring advice, and guide investment, policy development and best practice knowledge sharing; and
- Generate and share knowledge to support best practice and address cultural and structural drivers of family violence across the Victorian community.
The newly established Agency seeks to appoint an experienced Chair, up to eight Board Directors, as well as a talented and dynamic leader as its Chief Executive Officer.
Establishment of Respect Victoria is subject to legislation being enacted in the Victorian Parliament. Appointment of candidates to these executive roles is pending the establishment of the Agency.
The Position
Equipped with highly-developed interpersonal skills and sound judgement, the Chair appointee will be experienced in providing strategic oversight and governance, and offer expertise across one or more disciplines including preventative health, family violence, social sciences, corporate communications, governance, management, finance, legal and risk management.
