The Position
The Chief Digital Health Officer (CDHO) leads system-wide strategies and governance for critical digital applications in hospitals, mental health and community health services. Leading a Branch of approximately 180 staff, the role will oversee multiple change initiatives and evidence driven system improvement through cultivating a culture of innovation, learning and continuous improvement.
Reporting to the Deputy Secretary, Dr Lance Emerson you will set strategic direction for the sector promoting an integrated approach to digital health by leading the work on the realisation of Victoria’s digital road map, connection of care, virtual care, digital infrastructure, and national programmes including My Health Record.
Success requires providing visionary digital leadership aligned to clinical, patient and mental health solutions through close engagement with stakeholders including the 70+ hospitals in Victoria. You will oversee the transformation of legacy health sector systems to modern cloud based digital enabled platforms. The successful candidate will bring foresight, and build credibility in the sector to create a positive environment for collective thought leadership, future planning and targeted investment.
You will have experience of, or strong working knowledge of digital systems within Australian health care clinical settings. Hospital based experience or knowledge will be beneficial. Senior management or executive experience in public health at state or national level would also be advantageous.
An appropriate tertiary qualification in health, economics, business management, technology management, political science, public administration or public policy would be desirable. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in digital health, data / analytics, computer science, information technology, or a related field would be advantageous.

The eHealth Division will accelerate reform, harnessing technology innovation and improving clinician decision-making for better health and population outcomes.
