The position
The Chief is responsible for Council’s preparedness, response, relief, and recovery phases of emergency and pandemic incidences. The role is part of the Senior Leadership and presents an impactful opportunity to build the organisation’s capability and directly support community resilience.
Reporting to the Manager Legal & Governance, the Chief will engage collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop policies, plans and strategies that optimally position MVCC in the event of emergencies. Under legislation, this role is the lead Municipal Emergency Management Officer and lead Municipal Recovery Manager enabling business continuity. The position leads two direct reports and has business unit budget accountability.
Success requires a proven, expert leader with a track record in emergency management, disaster relief and recovery. A working knowledge of the Australasian Inter-Service Incident Management System (AIIMS) is expected. Well networked with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, you will sponsor a positive approach, bringing composure and foresight. You will have a reputation for high integrity, systems thinking, and values driven leadership.
Relevant tertiary qualifications are expected.
