The position

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of Council to Homeless Persons (CHP) and for the implementation of CHP’s strategic plan and vision. The role exerts influence through effective partnerships, leading stakeholder engagement across government, the homelessness sector, human services and the media. The CEO guides and promotes CHP’s role in building the capacity of the Specialist Homelessness Sector workforce.

Reporting to the Board, the CEO leads a dedicated and collaborative staff of around 18 people. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the role of a peak body and have exceptional and sophisticated relationship building skills and demonstrate the ability to promote collaboration across the sector.

You will be a highly respected leader from the sector or adjacent human services-related sector and support the advocacy efforts across the sector.

Demonstrated effectiveness at working in partnership with those with the lived experience of not having a home will be well received. The CEO will have well developed financial management skills and understanding of risk management and governance.

The organisation

The Council to Homeless Persons is the peak body representing organisations and individuals in Victoria with an interest in and commitment to ending homelessness. CHP believes that homelessness is unacceptable, avoidable and within our reach to resolve. As a peak body and membership organisation, CHP prioritises its work to where it can have most impact.

The organisation produces Parity, Australia’s leading national publication on homelessness and delivers a state-wide biennial conference.
