The Position

Reporting to a skilled and dedicated Board, the CEO will lead 120 staff in a science-based organisation supported by more than 330,000 members, supporters, volunteers and donors.  In collaboration with other conservation organisations and working with governments, academic institutions, corporations, land managers and local communities, BirdLife Australia is on a mission to recover threatened birds and restore local environments.

With proven CEO or senior executive experience and with expertise or strong understanding of leadership in conservation, you will provide leadership, steer and champion the Bird Conservation Strategy inside and outside the organisation. Demonstrated business acumen combined with the ability to lead effective engagement and bring inspiring leadership will drive success in this role.

As a confident and engaging individual with exceptional interpersonal skills, you will have the capacity to oversee strong project design, management and reporting disciplines throughout the organisation.  Aligned to BirdLife Australia’s values, you will promote BirdLife Australia as a member-based organisation and lead an ambitious growth agenda.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in business administration, science, management or another relevant field are expected.
