The Position 

Council’s next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will provide impactful leadership and foresight that promotes inclusive, healthy, creative, sustainable and smart community outcomes. Leading a highly capable executive team, you will drive best practice to deliver on the objectives of the Council’s Plan through continuous community engagement to achieve value for money for rate payers.

Working under the guidance of vibrant and contemporary Councillors, the CEO is accountable for continuing to build a high performing and engaged workforce (over 720 FTE), customer service excellence, robust governance and financial sustainability. Success in the role requires contemporary executive leadership and experience gained in a large scale, complex government-related service delivery environment.

Aligned to the organisation’s capability framework, the ideal candidate will demonstrate superior leadership skills to ensure effective integration of strategy, planning and operations in a resource-constrained environment. You will create a difference with your change and reform mindset and your ability to strongly advocate to government and stakeholders to leverage the best outcomes for the Stonnington community.

The CEO must perform the functions as set out in the Local Government Act.
