The Position

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for leading the implementation of YACVic’s strategic plan and ensuring effective operational management and dynamic growth. This includes empowering a dynamic management and staff team, genuinely engaging Victoria’s youth sector, and learning from and power sharing with young people.

You will be passionate about, and committed to, ensuring that young people’s issues are prioritised by decision makers. This includes ensuring that the voices and needs of young people are understood and respected, and they are meaningfully involved in decisions that affect their lives.

Reporting to and working collaboratively with the Board the position will lead and support a diverse, high-performing, multi-disciplinary team, and contribute to a work environment that prioritises accessibility, cultural and psychological safety and collaboration.

To be successful for this position you will be highly adaptable and value accountability and transparency and are skilled at communicating and advocating to diverse audiences. Your skills and expertise may come from your professional, voluntary, academic and/or lived experience.

With demonstrated success in strategic and operational leadership of complex community organisations with diverse stakeholders and results orientation.  You will have an authentic, compassionate, values-driven approach to leadership, that is responsive to those you work with and alongside. You will be keen to grow YACVic’s reach and impact with young people and the youth sector.

A relevant tertiary qualification is required.

 

The Organisation

Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic) is the peak body and leading policy advocate on young people’s issues in Victoria. YACVic represent young people (aged 12–25 years) and the sector that works with them.

YACVic is an independent, for-purpose organisation with core funding from the Victorian Government’s Office for Youth.

The organisation has a proud history of pursuing social justice by maintaining a particular focus on young people in our community who face disadvantage or marginalisation.

YACVic provides additional targeted advocacy and services through key services, YACVic Rural and the Youth Disability Advocacy Service (YDAS). YACVic has previously supported entities to move towards independence and YDAS is currently progressing through this process.
