Mercy Education Limited (MEL) seeks to appoint a dynamic and interactive leader who will bring a focus on the future combined with the ability to develop innovative growth opportunities. This is a critical role responsible for the provision of educational, cultural, strategic, financial and organisational leadership to drive the sustainability of the organisation and give strength, support and solidarity to member schools. Reporting to the Board, the CEO will manage a national team in addition to the Principals of the 13 member schools.
Working in partnership with the Board, the CEO will establish the future direction and strategic plan for the organisation, developing a growth strategy supported by a clear value proposition. The CEO will develop and build strong and effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to create meaningful partnerships that have a social impact, embed sustainability and promote MEL as an innovative leader and partner of choice. Key challenges associated with the position include management of child safety requirements across three states with diverse regulations, recalibration of governance structures, cyber resilience, crisis management and longer-term identification of alternative revenue streams.
The incoming CEO will present as a strategic, innovative and collaborative leader. Superior relationship and stakeholder management skills will enable engagement in critical change and delivery of desired outcomes. Strong commercial acumen and a demonstrated ability to manage master planning and budgeting is essential. The successful candidate will present with executive gravitas, the ability to bring others on the journey and deliver outcomes through influence and mutual respect. A background in the broader education sector will be essential to ensure productive relationships with the Principals of the member schools. The appointee will be a strategic, values led leader of the Catholic faith who lives the Mercy values authentically. Some interstate and international travel will be required.
