  • Outstanding and impactful leadership opportunity driving change and innovation.
  • Lead a positive culture of collaboration, accountability and clinical excellence.
  • Contribute to improved health outcomes for the community and broader region.

The Position

Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) seeks to appoint a strategic, engaging and collaborative senior executive to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO will lead the delivery of a comprehensive health service, delivering exceptional health and wellbeing services that enhance the quality of life of the community. The next two to five years offers a number of exciting opportunities for the organisation including major projects resulting in more beds and more services, partnerships with private providers and capitalisation on developments in the education and skills sector to deliver greater support for workforces and innovation in the north.

Reporting to the recently appointed NALHN Board Chair, Professor Judy Searle, the CEO will lead the delivery of the network’s Strategic Plan 2020-2025 that is underpinned by six strategic imperatives codesigned with staff, consumers and the diverse community that NALHN supports. The CEO will work with the organisation in the development of a culture where collaboration, accountability and excellence in clinical outcomes is embedded and where staff are empowered and talent is harnessed. The CEO will seek and identify opportunities for efficiencies, working with stakeholders including government and other LHNs for an improved networked response, contributing to a sustainable, safe and quality focused health service.

The successful candidate will be an authentic, future focused and contemporary CEO, with proven experience of leading and driving innovation and transformation across a major health service. With significant opportunities identified to increase self-sufficiency of the service, including through digital capability, the CEO will have a demonstrated track record of balancing both short term and medium-term goals, as well as the execution of these to drive improved patient care and clinical outcomes. As a leader who demonstrates gravitas and the political nous necessary to achieve the required future outcomes of the service, including financial sustainability and improved clinical governance, the CEO will have exceptional communication and influencing skills and passion and energy to positively engage staff on the journey.  Key attributes contributing to the success of this role will be a strong strategic mindset, a data and evidence-based approach to change and an optimistic and transparent leadership style.

This is an opportunity to impact future healthcare outcomes in the region and contribute more broadly across the state.

The Organisation

The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NAHLN) provides care for a growing population of approximately 450,000 via a range of hospital, community and home-based services, across multiple sites in the north-eastern Adelaide region. NALHN employees 6000 staff and has a turnover of $1 billion.
