The Position
The Board of the Nurse Midwife Health Program Australia is seeking to appoint a dynamic and talented Chief Executive Officer as its inaugural CEO in order to establish NMHPA as a highly reputable and much needed service provider. The CEO will work closely with the Board of Directors, influential key stakeholders and NMHPA employees to promote the service(s), particularly throughout the period of establishment.
Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive will lead the establishment of the organisation across Australia. This role works with a broad range of stakeholders across Australia to ensure programs are contemporary, well developed, accountable and delivered to meet the needs of the nursing, midwifery and students’ health and wellbeing.
With a proven capacity for strategic leadership, coupled with the demonstrated ability to develop and inspire a supportive and impactful team, the appointee will be the voice of NMHPA and engage with government and other specialty stakeholders.
The successful candidate will possess broad experience in the management of complex, large-scale programs in a relevant field, coupled with an appreciation of service systems. In addition, the appointee will have a clear understanding of government funding and the not-for-profit sector and will utilise their strong commercial acumen to grow and sustain the program into the future. A strong understanding of the sector would be advantageous to develop innovative strategies to deliver programs to enable the nurses, midwives and students to address and manage their health concerns.
The CEO will ensure effective development and implementation of the strategic plan, to drive performance improvement outcomes and deliver on financial and quality results.

The Organisation
The Nurse Midwife Health Program Australia (NMHPA) is a newly
established entity funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care to care for Nurses, Midwives and undergraduates of these disciplines experiencing health related problems including mental health and drug and alcohol issues.
The NMHPA will operate through four hub locations including Victoria/Tasmania, New South Wales – Australian Capital Territory, South Australia – Western Australia, and Queensland – Northern Territory. The NMHPA will employ nurses and midwives to provide care and support through a number of modalities including face to face and telehealth.
