The Position

The Board of the Australian Private Hospitals Association (APHA) seeks to appoint an influential Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to build on the legacy of a long time CEO and drive continuing support and impact for members now and into the future. Private hospitals are an essential part of Australia’s health care system and the APHA plays a vital role in protecting and expanding members’ interests across a broad range of areas.

Reporting to a Board of pre-eminent industry leaders the CEO will drive advocacy, policy, financial management, member services and business development as well as organisational best practice. Noting the diverse membership of the Association, which includes large national hospital groups, single site hospitals, day hospitals, for profit and not for profit entities, the CEO will play an active role in engagement with policy makers, legislators and regulators, exchanging information and knowledge. and influencing for positive industry outcomes.

To succeed in this position, you will have experience working in a member- based organisation and a record of delivering demonstrable impact to those members. Recognised as someone who has superior stakeholder management, communication and advocacy skills, you will be known for being an excellent listener with a well-developed ability to distil issues and unify positions. You will have an advanced understanding of how to navigate Government and influence policy and be the sort of leader who readily encourages, motivates and inspires their team. While you may or may not have a strong understanding of the broader health sector, you will be highly motivated to impact healthcare service delivery across the nation.

The Organisation

The Australian Private Hospitals Association (APHA) is the peak national body representing the private hospital and day surgery sector. The core purpose of the APHA is to ensure the ongoing sustainability, and continued development of the Private Hospital sector in Australia.
