The Position
The Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry (ABMDR) seeks to appoint an outstanding Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organisation in to its next phase of growth. The CEO will build on the ABMDR’s prominence as the only organisation in Australia responsible for the recruitment of volunteer bone marrow/blood stem cell donors and the administrative management of the National Cord Blood Collection Network in Australia.
Reporting to a Board, the CEO is responsible for all strategic, financial, operational, administrative and governance aspects of the organisation. Leading a team of over 20, the CEO assures ABMDR’s relevance and accountability to its diverse constituents, including Government funders and the international bone marrow transplant community.
The successful candidate will be an exceptional senior executive with proven experience in driving operational excellence and driving significant change. The CEO will be experienced in the Australian healthcare environment and may be familiar with the HLA (Human leukocyte antigen) system and principles of matching donors and recipients. Equipped with a customer-centric approach and a global perspective, the CEO will possess strong ethical standards and a track record of positively influencing relationships and negotiating funding agreements with Australian government health departments.
The Organisation
The Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry (AMBDR) creates and enhances the availability of suitably matched, unrelated voluntary donors of haemopoietic stem cells for patients in need of transplantation.
Funded by the Commonwealth, State and Territory governments, the National Office is based in Sydney where staff work in close association with the Australian Red Cross Blood Service.
