The Position
Banyule City Council seeks to appoint its next Chief Executive Officer to deliver on its unrelenting focus on customer service, sustainability, financial performance and strong corporate governance. Ongoing success at this Council stems from genuine collaboration and a partnership approach with Councillors, the organisation and the community.
The new CEO will bring the drive to ensure Banyule remains a great place to live, work and play. With strong foundations already in place, the CEO will lead a team in pursuit of operational excellence to meet the community’s diverse needs and aspirations. With a staff of over 1000, in excess of 100 services and initiatives are delivered to citizens along with substantial capital works. Financial sustainability and robust governance remain core to the Council as do innovation and an entrepreneurial approach.
The successful appointee will have an accomplished track record in significant, citizen focused service delivery and strategy development. The role requires exceptional values-based people leadership and a capacity to effectively engage all stakeholders. Strong advocacy and knowledge of economic, environmental, social and governance matters relating to local government and its constituents are critical. Appropriate tertiary qualifications relevant to this role are desirable.

The City of Banyule is a municipality in the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, with a population of over 130,000 people that continues to grow and diversify.
Boasting renowned open spaces, thriving commerce and first-class community facilities, the City is going from strength to strength. Central to the Council Plan 2017-21 is ensuring Banyule remains a great place to live, work and play.
Council recognises the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung as the traditional custodians of the lands upon which Banyule is located.
