The Position
The Board of the Australian Airports Association seeks to appoint an influential Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to deliver on its Strategic Plan 2020-2025 to remain the pre-eminent organisation in the sector by continuing to deliver members value add support and services now and into the future.
The CEO will be an impressive industry representative who leads on advocacy, policy. member services, industry development and organisational best practice. The role manages the National Secretariat in Canberra with a highly professional staff of 10 and has turnover in excess of $3.6m per year. The position engages with a vast array of stakeholders including government and stakeholders across both Commonwealth and state based and local council jurisdictions. The role is also responsible for overseeing key events each year, developing training and education offerings and other commercial and industry development opportunities.
To succeed in this position, you will have a track record as a strategic senior leader with highly developed stakeholder management, communication and commercial skills. Superior advocacy, deep policy expertise and government relations experience are expected. The role requires the highest level of corporate governance and provides sound and innovative advice to the Board.  Working knowledge of the transport or aviation industry is desirable, along with relevant tertiary qualifications. Importantly, you will be highly motivated to impact the journeys of Australians across the nation.

The Australian Airports Association (AAA) is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 1982 representing the interests of over 340 airports and aerodromes across Australia, from regional landing strips to major international gateway airports. The AAA is the leading advocate for appropriate national policy relating to airport activities, to ensure regular transport passengers, freight, and the community enjoy the full benefits of a progressive and sustainable airport industry. The economic contribution of Australia’s airport sector is $34.6 billion, and it employs a workforce of over 8000.
