The Position
Horsham Rural City Council seeks a visionary leader with a strong commitment to the local community to deliver the strategic goals and opportunities of its diverse and ever changing region. You will head an organisation experiencing growth, as it undertakes a range of significant projects to secure an ambitious and sustainable future. Key to the role will be advocacy and attraction of investment across a range of portfolio’s including industry, farming, mining, community support and business.
Supported by a passionate council, the next CEO will provide strategic direction and inspirational leadership in championing the vision of a sustainable, vibrant and community oriented municipality.
You will have exceptional leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, coupled with strategic, financial and people management experience, gained in the public or private sectors. With a commitment to living in the municipality and an appreciation of Local Government, you offer responsive and innovative leadership, possess high levels of integrity and empathy. Aligned to growing a prosperous region, you will foster productive relationships with state and federal government, pursue excellence in governance, strategic planning and outstanding service provision. Appropriate tertiary qualifications relevant to this role are preferred.

A vibrant, diverse community situated approximately 300km north-west of Melbourne and north of the Grampians National Park, Horsham Rural City Council has a population of over 19,000 residents and covers an area of 4,267 square kilometres.
Well serviced by quality schools, large health services and a university, Horsham is a provider of retail, community and government services to the Wimmera region. With dryland and broad acre agriculture being major industry contributors, Horsham is also home to internationally recognised Grain, Pulse and Oilseed research.
