The Position
This is an important time to lead Murrindindi Shire Council with its ambitious agenda and commitment to deliver to its community in times of both significant opportunities and challenges. A key platform is continued sustainable economic development that benefits all the Shire.
Reporting to the Mayor and elected Councillors, the CEO will lead an organisation of over 150 staff and a budget of approximately $39million with a focus on community engagement, improving customer service outcomes, facilitating innovation, and transforming business operations and practices.
The incoming CEO will be an accomplished community minded leader who is unrelenting in placing the customer at the centre of planning and delivery of Council services. They will be an exceptional advocate, agile thinker and someone who brings entrepreneurial spirit and creative problem solving. A proven track record in strategic planning, financial management, governance and workforce development is expected.
Previous achievement in local government or community related environments where collaboration and complex stakeholder engagement is desired.
The Organisation
Murrindindi Shire Council is situated on Melbourne’s peri-urban fringe. The Shire encompasses the vibrant townships of Alexandra, Eildon, Kinglake, Marysville and Yea. It takes pride in its great natural beauty and tourist attractions such as Lake Eildon, picturesque national parks, the Great Victorian Rail Trail and access to Victoria’s snowfields.
An important context for the Council is the introduction and implementation of the Local Government Act (Vic) 2020 which requires development of community engagement strategies as well as workforce planning, long term asset and financial plans to ensure financial sustainability into the future.
