The Position
South Port Community Housing Group (SPCHG) is seeking to appoint an outstanding Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to work with a skilled and dedicated Board and staff group who have been providing exemplary services to tenants since 1982.
Enabling people to live securely with a strong sense of community, the incoming CEO will build on the organisation’s legacy of supporting individuals with high levels of disadvantage, who are least well served by the private rental market. The incoming CEO will provide visionary and human-centred leadership, including the design and implementation of the next strategic plan.
Reporting to the Board, the CEO will identify strategic opportunities to enhance and grow the organisation, as well as support the team to deliver high quality services. Maintaining a strong public profile, delivering development projects and strengthening stakeholder relationships across all levels of government, community and corporate agencies, the CEO will understand, respect, represent and advocate for the interests of the organisation’s client base.
You will be a leader who can engage confidently and build trust with all levels of government as well as develop deep community connections.  With a commitment to social justice that engenders respect and understanding for marginalized people, you will have a record of achievement in a complex services-based organisation.  Ideally you will have proven ability shaping a client focused organisation/division and leading stakeholder engagement with advocacy campaigns.  Equipped with well-developed management capabilities the CEO will be skilled in dealing with complex and sensitive matters. Financial management experience is essential along with excellent communication skills.

South Port Community Housing Group (SPCHG) is a registered Housing Provider with a capacity of 283 tenancies. Owning two properties: 330 Bank Street (40 one-bedroom flats), and 15 Emerald Street (31 bed-sit flats); all other properties are leased, under a 5-year General Lease, from the Victorian State Government.
Central to SPCHG’s mission has been providing opportunities for tenants to be part of the community and share in the benefits of inner city living.
Through advocacy and partnership with the Victorian Government all properties have now been upgraded to provide people with a private bathroom and kitchen rather than shared facilities. This is a level of amenity and privacy that allows people to develop a sense of home.
