The Position
Community health provider, healthAbility, seeks a dynamic and innovative individual to become its next Chief Executive Officer. Reporting to the Board, the CEO will position the organisation to respond to the unprecedented opportunities and challenges that are unfolding across the health, disability and aged care sectors. The CEO will have the talent, energy and commitment to lead and operate a community services organisation through a period of substantial growth.
Leading a dedicated and highly skilled team, the CEO will oversee the management of healthAbility’s operations ensuring integration of all functions and activities and the effective delivery of services and programs in line with the strategic plan. Positioning healthAbility as an organisation of the future, the CEO will provide vision and leadership to staff and support a diverse and inclusive culture where employees are highly engaged. The CEO will also support the Board to fulfill its governance functions and will build and foster strong, trusted relationships with partners across the community.
Equipped with experience gained from being a CEO or in an equivalent senior position, and ideally possessing some understanding of the health sector, the successful candidate will have the strategic and operational capacity to identify and leverage future opportunities such as new services, new partnerships, and innovative care models. Contemporary, relational and inspiring in their leadership, the appointee will have an entrepreneurial mindset, sound commercial acumen as well as strong ‡ financial management and strategic business planning capabilities. A track record of effectively engaging stakeholders and building new partnerships as well as fostering a highly collaborative culture is vital.
This is an extremely exciting opportunity to grow the delivery of needs-based health and wellbeing services. It will suit a leader who identifies with heathAbility’s core values of integrity, collaboration, innovation and equity. along with principles of responsiveness and respect. Appropriate tertiary qualifications are required.

healthAbility is an independent, community health organisation in Melbourne’s North Eastern suburbs that has been providing wide ranging and innovative support and care to people for over 40 years. This includes supporting people with disability, older people, people with complex and chronic conditions, families and youth. The organisation exists to improve the health and wellbeing of people across all ages and abilities and to inspire people and communities to be healthier and inclusive.
