Respect Victoria is focused on the prevention of all forms of family violence and violence against women for all Victorians. No matter their gender, age, sexuality or cultural background. Prevention means stopping violence before it starts, by changing the culture that allows it to happen. Respect Victoria is the leading independent agency that informs and guides investment in prevention activity. Generating and sharing knowledge, it develops research and evaluation to support best practice. It also addresses the drivers of family violence and violence against women through awareness raising, behavior change campaigns, and policy reform.
The Board of Respect Victoria are seeking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer to lead the agency and drive its engagement with a range of organisations and service providers across the state. Working with the board and a highly capable team, the Chief Executive Officer will focus on developing, accelerating and embedding reform that prevent violence and promote equality and respect across the whole community.
The successful candidate will possess exceptional people skills and be an influential and respectful voice, fostering collaborative relationships in sector relevant forums. You will be a visionary and empowering leader with a deep alignment to the prevention of family violence and violence against women. Ideally you will have a successful track record of steering change, and may offer expertise in family violence, violence against women services, broader social services delivery and/or public policy.
Respect Victoria was established as a Statutory Authority under the Prevention of Family Violence Act 2018 (the Act) on 4 October 2018. Respect Victoria, by its establishment fulfils Recommendation 188 of the Royal Commission into Family Violence. Respect Victoria will deliver on the commitments legislated in the Act and the objectives outlined in Free from Violence: Victoria’s strategy to prevent family violence and all forms of violence against women.
Excellent stakeholder management skills and organisational leadership capability from a governance perspective are expected. Drive and creativity to support and implement community behavioural change through research-led policy and program reform will be mandatory, coupled with relevant tertiary qualifications.
