The Board of Optometry Victoria South Australia (OV/SA) seeks a strategic and hands-on leader to help guide the organisation through a time of change and opportunity.  With a new strategic plan in its first phase of execution, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will lead the promotion and development of the role of optometry in providing primary eye care services throughout Victoria and South Australia.  The team of ten is based in Carlton, Victoria, and the CEO will ensure effective strategic development and operational management, fostering relationships with a range of external stakeholders, including members, government, policy makers, the healthcare sector and Optometry Australia’s other member state organisations.
With outstanding interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, the successful candidate will have the ability to build effective partnerships and foster a collaborative culture.  A strategic mindset, strong business acumen, financial literacy and operational leadership experience will be essential, alongside experience in working with and supporting a Board.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate high levels of professionalism, judgement and critical thinking.
The appointee will hold relevant tertiary qualifications.  An understanding of the role of optometry in primary eye care and experience in overseeing the organisation of conferences and events will be highly regarded.
The Organisation
OV/SA delivers a range of services and benefits to over 2,000 optometrists and optometry students across South Australia and Victoria, utilising national and state resources and expertise to provide support and advice.  The organisation supports the advancement of clinical expertise through a comprehensive program of events and education, including the O=MEGA clinical conference and trade show and the Blue Sky Congress.  In addition, smaller, local seminars and events across metropolitan and regional Victoria and South Australia are tailored to specific member groups and interests.
Maintaining an active conversation with relevant decision-makers across the South Australian and Victoria state governments, OV/SA represents the evolving needs of members, fostering the advancement of eye health and optometry through advocacy and legislative channels.
