  • Provide strategic leadership building on strong foundation
  • Develop BCA’s next generation of leaders
  • Lead individual and systemic advocacy

Occupying a key leadership role for the blind and vision impaired community, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Blind Citizens Australia (BCA) will lead the next chapter of the organisation’s critical work, following the inspiring legacy of the outgoing CEO Emma Bennison. BCA’s central mission is to be a direct voice for all people in Australia who are blind or vision impaired.
Reporting to the Board, the CEO will be a central voice and key representative across private, public and community sectors to drive positive social impact for its members. The CEO provides leadership of a dedicated team delivering programs and services across four streams: information and referral, peer support, capacity building and individual and systemic advocacy.
You will be considered a thought-leader regarding the inclusion of people who are blind, or vision impaired in community and business. The successful candidate will be a skilled and charismatic leader with the capacity to engage personally with the membership. With excellent knowledge of sector issues and strong networks, you will be astute in navigating stakeholder relationships. An empathetic leader with exceptional communication skills, you will lead a welcoming, visionary, and future-focused culture. Leading the vision to grow the size and breadth of the membership, you will have highly developed advocacy capability and the ability to ensure financial viability of the organisation.
This is a prime opportunity for a dynamic individual with lived experience of vision loss to contribute significant leadership towards a more vibrant and inclusive future.
BCA has an affirmative action employment policy in relation to people with disability and adjusts the recruitment, selection and employment process to accommodate individuals.
Please note, this position has the ability to work from home.
