The Position
Building on the significant investment in ‘Mildura Future Ready’, Council is seeking to appoint an impactful strategic leader who will bring energy and focus to reviving community social and economic wellbeing. The incoming Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will promote improved customer service delivery and community engagement as well as effectively advocate for the region across all levels of government.
Working under the guidance of Councillors, the CEO leads an executive management team responsible for delivering on the 2040 Community Vision for an enhanced natural environment, connected community, creative place making, thriving economy and collaborative leadership. Results are archived through a motivated and engaged workforce of 600+ staff and effective management of a $1.1billion portfolio of assets. An immediate priority will be to lead on pandemic emergency management and recovery.
The successful appointee will demonstrate a track record of complex service delivery leadership, ideally in local government or in a sector that is aligned. With a clear vision and strength in advocacy, authentic community connection and organisational development; the ideal candidate will bring a proven reputation in economic development and stakeholder engagement. The highest levels of integrity and governance are expected.
The Organisation
Mildura Rural City Council plays an important role in helping shape the future of the region and enhancing community wellbeing, delivering more than 100 different services to residents across the municipality. Located in northwest Victoria, it shares borders with New South Wales and South Australia, which makes it a strategically important regional service centre for three states.
Much of Australia’s fruit, vegetable, nut and cereal crops are grown in the region, tourism and hospitality thrives, and many excellent opportunities are coming from emerging industry development including renewables.
