The Position
St Vincent’s Health Australia (SVHA) seeks to appoint an inspiring and talented Executive to become the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (SVHM). Building on an extraordinary legacy of accomplishment, the new CEO will lead this private not-for profit provider of public tertiary health services to a new era of performance excellence.
Being part of the broader SVHA group, the CEO of SVHM reports into the CEO of SVHA’s Hospitals Division and interfaces with the national SVHA Board/Committees. The CEO of SVHM will lead and champion the ongoing delivery of exceptional and innovative health outcomes to the community. They will drive a positive organisational culture that engages and motivates staff and will oversee some significant future-looking projects and initiatives.
Equipped with senior executive experience in a large health care organisation, the successful candidate will be an inspiring leader with proven experience in driving strategic and operational excellence. The new CEO will be future focused, innovative, and visionary, and will have an exemplary record of partnering with allies. Adept at dealing with change, the incumbent will be the sort of leader who readily champions the capacity and development of staff. They will be able to work effectively within a faith-based organisation and will genuinely identify with the values of compassion, justice, integrity and excellence. Tertiary qualifications preferably at a post graduate level in economics, business management, health or a related field preferred.
The Organisation
St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne is a private not-for profit provider of public tertiary health services. Over 5,000 dedicated staff work across 16 sites to provide a range of services, including acute medical and surgical services, emergency and critical care, aged care, diagnostics, rehabilitation, allied health, mental health, palliative care and residential care. SVHM works work with a vast network of collaborative partners to deliver high quality treatment, teaching, education and research.
SVHM is part of the St Vincent’s Health Australia which is Australia’s largest not-for-profit health and aged care provider. It is part of the Mary Aikenhead Ministries which has a rich heritage of providing services to all people, especially those who are poor, marginalised and vulnerable.
