The SACE Board of South Australia seeks an outstanding individual to provide visionary and inspirational leadership as its next Chief Executive (CE), building on strong foundations and playing a significant role in driving the achievement of the organisation’s Thrive Strategic Framework. The CE will bring enthusiasm, wisdom and gravitas to realise an aspirational vision of leading educational change and transformation, shaping education so that students thrive.
The CE is responsible for leading the implementation of the Board’s vision, providing direction and governance to ensure the successful delivery of strategic and financial goals. In addition to providing visionary and strategic leadership to ensure impact through a thriving Agency, the CE plays an important role in national and state education policy and thought leadership, positioning the SACE Board at the forefront of transforming senior secondary education.
With skills in strategic leadership and able to drive change and innovation, the ideal candidate will be a systems thinker with a passion for education and opportunity. Highly developed skills in communicating, influencing and negotiation are essential, with the ability to communicate and implement a vision, inspiring the team and wider stakeholder groups, fostering strong relationships and bringing them on the journey. Experienced in working with Boards and with an understanding of governance and reporting frameworks, the appointee will also demonstrate a high level of business and political acumen.
The South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) is a modern, internationally recognised secondary school qualification, designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge and personal capabilities to successfully participate in our fast-paced, global society.
The SACE Board is a statutory authority of the South Australian government, responsible for the accreditation of subjects and the recognition and assessment of learning. It provides the SACE to Government, Independent and Catholic schools in SA and assesses student achievement in the Northern Territory and at centres across Asia.
