The Chief Financial Officer is a key executive position at Royal Women’s Hospital (The Women’s) and is responsible for the leadership of strategic and operational financial management across the Women’s to ensure the hospital’s financial health and sustainability. Reporting to the CEO, the CFO will provide strategic operational and financial advice to the CEO, the Board and the Executive.
The CFO will lead and have oversight of finance, payroll, procurement, PPP, contract management, facility management and ESG functions, ensuring a high performing team. The CFO will provide strategic advice and options to support informed decision making and organisation strategy concerning the financial implications of, and risks associated with, current and projected services and assets, and the future financial sustainability of the Women’s. The CFO will develop the Women’s annual budget and financial operating and capital plans, which will include negotiations with the Department of Health and other relevant stakeholders. Additionally, the CFO will maintain constructive relationships with the Victorian Auditor General’s Office and other CFOs in related Ministerial portfolios.
The successful incumbent will be an accomplished CFO/Corporate services executive with a broad and in-depth financial background, strong commercial acumen and highly developed strategic thinking, ideally underpinned by knowledge of the health system and funding mechanisms. Experience developing and driving savings and efficiencies, bringing innovative thinking to novel solutions in a complex environment, and experience developing funding models will be highly regarded. The position will suit a proactive, creative thinker with a “can do” attitude.
Leading a team of 34 staff through four direct reports, and responsibility for a budget of $28.3 million, this is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the Women’s vision of creating healthier futures for women and babies.
